DADsFME

Just a 'heads up' to members who sign up who don't contribute to the forum, well just like the old site we will periodically delete accounts for those members who have zero posts.

Obviously we want all members to contribute to the forum either by making and/or joining in discussions, making and releasing layouts, gathering resources and most importantly supporting Emulator Authors without which this site wouldn't exist.  Its a bit pointless signing up just so your name shows up in the 'Members List' and certainly we don't want people joining up just to 'leech' what they can.

I'm not going to do anything straight away though, I'm looking to start this a few months down the line.

Can't fathom why people have signed up just for the hell of it.  It's not as if there's 100s of downloads to leech yet.

AH!!   are the creators going to be uploading of their classic's  dx's, as it's a clean slate.  ;)

just asking, as i thought it would be good to see some of geddy's,  dads, captain haddock's ,cheese , ploggy's, tommy c's  andy 1's   etc etc

There are a lot of things I would really like to say about the way things have been going in FME Land. I thought it would make matters worse, lets just see what happens, hoping common sense will prevail.

OK today's the day.  Later I'll be deleting those members who haven't made any posts which means they will no longer have access to certain sections of the forum, the reason being I've also altered Permissions for Guests.

Obviously, those who may be affected by this can easily put that right by biting the bullet and begin making a contribution to the forum by posting.  A good place to start would be the Introduce Yourself thread.

If you've previously missed this thread and find your account had been deleted and want to sign up again then feel free :)

Well that's a few gone!!

Those who have signed up within the last month are still with us, but for how long is entirely up to them.  Periodically I'll prune the membership just as I did with the old site.

As mentioned previously, if you've had your account deleted then feel free to sign up again but in future please make an effort to join in :)

Since I'm in the mood, I've just pruned a few more members.  A few are getting very close to a months grace too ;)

Just the ones that have signed up within a month as I usually give them a little time.  Its a git of a job as you have to do it manually but there's a strange satisfaction in doing it ;)

it has but you can't just highlight the whole lot if you intend just to delete zero posters which is the intention.  You'd need two filters :(

I don't blame you DAD! When I joined this site I became the 150th Member, at the time of this post there are 413 Members. I can count on one hand how many of the ones who joined after me have ever posted. Not even just to say a quick 'Thank you' after downloading someone's fab work.

OK so I've deleted quite a few members who signed up but have never visited the site since - BYE to all of those!!

However I was going to do the ZERO posters and noticed there are quite a few names I recognise from other sites.  Not only that, some of those have visited very recently and have been members for a very long time -

I realise FME isn't like it was years ago when you could download 20 layouts a day and F5 was your best friend but come on.  It takes a second just to post a 'thank you' for a download.  IMHO its the least you can do for all the hard work that goes into making these releases.

I'll give it a while longer but ZERO posters WILL have their accounts deleted some time soon, and I call upon Admins of the other FME sites to do the same.

I would really like it... since it's been a bug bear of mine for ages that all members use the same nicknames across all the FME sites.  I know it will never happen but then making a layout for MPU5 was literal suicide - times can change... :)

I've just been thinking of having a ZERO posters cull again but while looking through the list I was amazed but some VERY familiar names who haven't even logged in here for quite some time. 

Let me put that into perspective - A certain user has over 600 posts here but hasn't visited the site for nearly three years.  Well what's the point in keeping that account?  Non whatsoever in my view.

Its REALLY pissed me off to be honest and I've decided that anyone who hasn't visited DADsFME within the last year, whether or not they have a decent post count or not will have their account removed.

Nothing wrong with that imo,if they have no interest in logging in here and contributing,show them the exit.

I still read the posts but only occasionally post myself still in the belief that something will inspire me to post something useful.

Sounds like a good idea to me, keep the place all nice and tidy for us that do visit and contribute here.

Unless they have lost their passwords etc... but I'm sure they could have alerted us to the fact somehow...

I best make a post then, in case I forget to pop back this year...  ;)

Still not got around to deleting 'non visiting members' yet but I will in the near future.   

I know this place is an insignficant site compared to the likes of DIF & Fruit Emu but we DO have a small 'but extremely loyal' membership here, and that's the reason we keep going.

Totally agree mate except for one thing THIS SITE IS NOT INSIGNIFICANT!!! On the plus side at least no one has to put up with my bullshit in here lol. All sites have their pluses and minuses(well FE has the most and I'll let you contemplate which). It is the 4 for me still, DIF, DADS, MECCA, FE. Always will be!!

You bother DAD because you enjoy what you do and because members like me appreciate all what you do!

As I've said before, DADsFME was the first FME site that I joined, the reason for that was I'd seen some fantastic images of lo-tech layouts that came from here, especially those Bar-X type ones and all with that now iconic DADsFME logo at the side.

The layouts you created were like the machines I would play so your site appealed to me and still does now.

This place is very significant to the FME scene so thank you... & long may DADsFME continue for another 18+ years!

No disrespect to anybody but owning a few forums myself that were literally dead like this one, I started some provocative threads to garner some interest from a lazy membership. Did it work? To an extent...

Facebook has literally killed the living daylights out of theses platforms.

I would post more more but the generic nature of the site (making virtual machines) is well out of my expertise.

Thankfully SMF is free and servers are relatively cheap.

I would hardly say Dads is dead as it links with DIF so maybe a bit of a better merger would make this place just as uplifting as DIF. I may not post much(to the relief of Dad having to put up with my bullshit as well😉) but know this, I will never forget here and it is not about money but whatever I give DIF always splits between here and there except for WFW.

It is my way of saying thank you and keeping me away from those thieving bastards in the arcades.

Always remember this place is historical and phenomenal rolled into one thanks to Dad and Reg.

I will also continue to promote the three sites(MPU MECCA to) by word of mouth and my group on FB which holds a generous 1700 odd members.

Not wearing that post,yes this site may not get the post counts others do. But valuable information help and layout building help this site is top draw for. We all appreciate this site and what the owner does for the scene so from were I'm coming from that's enough.

I dont spend nearly enough time here.
I usually check out DIF and never spend a lot of time anywhere else, my bad.
I used to ONLY be on FruitEmu (the first emulation site i knew about back around 15 years ago... until about 3 years ago, when it seemed everybody went over to DIF etc and read a few posts that there were more happening there instead, so bookmarked it, but now added DADSFME and so will be more regular visitor, thanks again @DAD.!

Not enough hours in the day to get everything done.  Guilty of not posting enough (at all?) but thanks for the site.

i am still new in this hobby, but i would like to inspire others by creating and sharing my content.
We made a little tutorial about building your owm machine. in the near future i will try to creat english subs. so everyone can enjoy and learn how to setup your own fruit machine.
