Title: Speed issues on PFME
Post by: BarXQueen on Aug 21, 2026, 02:40 PM
A few of you have reported the emulator running slowly on your PC, update to v0.2.8 and see if that helps. If not, go into settings and Emulation, then select "Use the recompiler engine (experimental)". Restart PFME and see if that helps. Please feedback any observations below, i.e. does the new engine help? What in particular is slow? Is it reel spin, loading, etc?

Hi BarXQueen,
Thanks for your hard work. Tried Party Time Player with the new release 0.28. Using the recompiler engine definately faster. Payout sound & reel speed ok. The other sounds nudges, wins and feature sounds are still very slow. Was unplayable on initial release. I still cannot play Double Decker at all on my pc

Another option you can try is to remove Player 2 and 3 from the layout. Just click on the cabinet menu and choose "Remove station" and remove player 3 first - if that doesn't help enough then remove Player 2 as well

I must say that when loading double decker for first time, there is an alarm. I have never heard the pluto alarm before and it's horrible especially when all 3 stations alarm. Interesting terminology when I've heard of stations as "slaves" and the top box as the "master", classic horrible astra display being no coms to master. Never had that emulated thank goodness. Just want to let people know how loud that alarm is. I know A1 machines have a worse alarm than that lol. Talking of stations, what are the max stations you can have, as I know again that A1 machines have 8 plus top board, party time arena, bingo and others.
