Might sound a daft question but what don't you like about Apple?  Presonally I don't like the iMAC or any other applemac type computer/lappy, but much prefer my Iphone to any other mobile I've used.

I can make a start for him:

The fact that you pay over the odds for old or underpowered tech. (The "new" macbook is using 1.1ghz Dual core processors while using Intels own mediocre graphics chipset & start at £1050)
The fact that the system is locked down & not open like a free OS like Linux (of which it is based on to some degree)
The fact most people who own them are so far up their own arse they're mistaken for the human centipede.
The fact you are bound to itunes.
The pricing, adding on to the first point how can they charge so much on mark ups when they have so much money. Pretty sure they have over $1.1 Trillion saved in cash, even after paying out bonuses to investors.
Also look at the apple watch, they want £39 for a plastic strap that costs mere pence to make.

Those are a few reasons off the top of my head, I'm sure Slasher can fill in some more.

Good start Matty.

The company are evil. They tried to make jailbreaking illegal.

They sue other companies for reasons like "using the rectangle shape"

ITunes iTunes iTunes and locked to iTunes. What's wrong with simple drag and drop? ITunes doesn't work on Linux either not that I'd install it if it did. It's shit and makes computers slower due to adding itself and all the other shit to the startup, such as quick time.

No external memory slot on iPhone, ipad, etc

I don't think OTG works with their devices either?

Fucking difficult to repair their products due to how they're put together. Some of their laptop models have the ram SOLDERED in so you can't even upgrade it.

How fucking much do they want for an extra 32gb? Talk about marking up the price!

The company are hypocrites.

They use their own stupid video formats.

Videos have to be converted before they're able to be played on the device usually.

They claim to be leaders, something they're absolutely not.

I'll expand more when I'm back at home.

With regards to Apple devices being introduced into schools...

...The schools do that purchasing - Apple doesn't 'impose' it on them and they could just as easily use Android devices or Windows Surface tablets and also Windows PCs.

It just goes to show, in my opinion, that Apple is far in front of the other manufacturers for both their hardware and software because the education system has chosen them over Microsoft and Google!

Schools get them silly cheap but that is not the point.

Also I'm sure you can use iPhones without itunes.... I used to anyhoo.

You either like them or you do not....  but stop press  ALL COMPANIES ARE MONEY GRABBING CUNTS!
Title: Re: Hi All

Lancashire schools do not get them silly cheap far from it and those same schools bleat they have no money because the heads set the budget and they have spent it all on technology instead of the school.

Bit like a chavette that has a shiny new iPhone but has to go to a food bank to eat.

I don't work in a school but IT support for them jesus what a 'colourful' bunch they are.

They are unwilling to read, follow instructions or listen they regularly try to tell me my job and have not a fucking clue what they are on about and they are teaching our kids, in 20 years we are absolutely fucked with the knobheads teaching em now I hate to think how inept they will become.

Apple hardware is the same these days. Comes from the same place just with a higher price tag.

Can't drag and drop songs to/from an iPhone without some other program installed

An example of shit money management for example universal free school meals come in obviously going going to cost, so instead of adjusting of the budget they still spend the money on ICT equipment and bleat they have no money.

...And that can be said for Windows Phone too because I have one now.

You can't put any music or pictures onto it unless you have software installed to import them - and actually DropBox and OneDrive can now import your music and pictures to your iOS device without the use of iTunes.

People who knock Apple I really don't mind one bit and indeed I will agree on some points - but those who don't use iOS devices, especially since the upgrade to iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite really don't understand how easy importing and exporting music, files, pictures etc really is and shouldn't really call devices if they haven't a clue about how easy syncing everything is nowadays without the need of iTunes etc.

So - like I've already said... Get a grip lads! :P

For quite a few years actually using Windows 7 and Windows 8...

...I have always found that when I plugged in my Apple iPhone (now I have an Apple iPad 4) instead of letting iTunes take it over, just let Windows 'Plug & Play' it and that way I have always been able to get my pictures, music and files from the device onto my computer.

As for putting stuff onto my iOS devices? Why? The App Store has all it needs for me, and OneDrive, DropBox and iCloud storage have all I need to put onto it from there (including music and pictures etc) - any mobile device is limited storage, so why do you want to clutter it all with your computer stuff?

I really can't understand how people have found it so difficult to use - I'm sure if I have managed it with my difficulties with no problem at all -  then any of you 'big boys' honestly could! ;)

It's designed to be easy to use but I am hugely against their shit programs that add themselves to startup.

Also, which device allows plug and play like that? I haven't tried one yet that just works when I plug it into my Linux pc, yet I have managed to get every single android phone to just work with drag and drop.

Even if it does do it now, finally, as matty said... After how long?

You see Linux - there's the rub...

...you will go for the 'free' version of Apple OS X installations! :P

I don't use Linux bud so I wouldn't know how to import/export and frankly wouldn't want too!

But whenever I have plugged in my old iPhone or indeed my iPad on any Windows 7 or Windows 8 (as well as Apple OS X) instead of launching it in iTunes the universal 'found new hardware' pops up and lets me just navigate the files on the device and copy them to my computer.

You mean OSX being the 'paid' version of UNIX/Linux ;)

Unix has been free for over 30 years iirc. So for Apple to come & take it then charge for it makes it an abnormality in the Unix family.

Fair enough...

...but if you think that Linux has done so well since it was developed you go ahead and continue using it.
The Ubuntu app store compared to the Mac App Store, iOS app store and even at a push, the Windows Store is a joke!  And to install anything into a Linux computer in my opinion you need to be a boffin or rocket scientist anyway!

I've tried Linux, mainly because it has an OS X feel - but that I'm afraid for me is where the comparison ends beteen the two operating systems. It doesn't utilise your ram memory properly, you can't install native graphics drivers without having to run the 'Add Drivers' app and then they are only 'supported' by the community drivers, not native!

You can come back with me with as many reasons as you want about Apple - but believe me I will come back with as many reasons for it!

I know the majority of you hate Apple - but I don't - and I'm enjoying this banter... but if you want to declare a truce with this, I'm willing to do so, otherwise battle will continue to commence! :P
Title: Re: Hi All
Post by: Slasher on May 11, 2015, 10:47 PM
Ubuntu went to shit some time ago IMO. I prefer Linux Mint or a Debian core these days.

As for being a boffin, not really. Synaptic is far easier than finding an exe file really.

It's come a hell of a long way to be honest mate.

The Add Drivers app is only there because some cards need drivers that aren't open source, so it's seperating the open from the closed, which makes sense in the long run. Regarding not native drivers, well that's down to hardware makers not really recognising Linux which is annoying but hey ho.

It definitely uses the RAM properly as it should do, but that can vary from distro to distro.

I have no problem with the people that have reasons for liking Apple, such as yourself, and I'm not fighting with you. It was just asked why people hate Apple, so I'm explaining why I dislike it. I'm enjoying the thread too. You haven't mentioned anything about Apple being an evil company and trying to sue people for jailbreaking their own devices and copyrighting the rectangle and other bullshit stuff they've done though yet :P
