I met someone from Hull on the train once, her name was Esther and she was involved in the Hull Green City bid.  Nice girl and very enthusiastic about Hull, but she was trying to sell Hull as part of her job.

Jammy bastard, I get to travel 40 miles each way on a train every weekday.  Pain in the arse but beats driving into Bristol.

Post by: Geddy on Jan 02, 2015, 08:36 PM
As for places to go it depends on what you like.  I love my old home town of Durham.  I like Liverpool as lots of stuff to see there, Manchester is a shit hole, Leeds is ropey (lol) Birmingham is quite interesting.  I like the National Trust Places but if nice landscapes or old houses is not your thing then that is pointless.  York is nice but you have probably been there a few times.  Some nice walks to be had in the Peak District or Yorkshire Moors....

I guess it's just what you are in to really.....

Otley, yeah did the Otley Run when I was at Uni many moons ago.  Basically back in the day there was 17 or so pubs next to each other around the market square and you had to grab a drink in each one.  Some of the locals would tell you that back in their day there was closer to thirty boozers in the small town.... :)
Title: Re: fruityboys travels
Post by: fruityboy2006 on Jan 02, 2015, 09:07 PM
otleys not a bad little town but there isnt  that many pubs there now only bistros and there not cheap

there is 1 arcade there if you have seen it but its run down and its small and the machines dont get rebulded as there 25 out on one machine so its a counting exersice

The ferry terminal is 5 mins in car from me and I've been to Amsterdam twice and once to Bruges.  TBH I enjoy the ferry crossing more lol  Got completely pissed one time :D

You're limited to the amount you can bring back and TBH I don't think you'd cover anywhere near the cost of the trip in the small amount you're allowed.  Years ago it was a real money maker and I've seen people in Amsterdam filling suitcases full of bacca to bring home. lol

its 1 kg still isnt it so thats about 40 pouches

i can get the coach up from leeds to hull for free  but is there anywhere to sleep on the ferrys at all

get a return ferry crossing for 50-60

but i have been told its unlimted but customs will raise red flags if its over 1kg

A cabin to kip in is usually included in the price but if you want meals in the restaurant then add about another £50 (approx) per person.  I did that last time and completely pigged out at Breakfast as its an all you can eat buffet lol  I've also done the trip without booking meals and while there is a cafe etc its not cheap and there's not much choice.  Eating out, especially in Amsterdam isn't a problem as there is a Maccy D's & Burger King or you can try the local stuff.

As for the amount of Duty free I don't recall it being that much but you could check with P & O Ferries for the amount you're allowed to bring back.  I only ever brought 10 packs of bacca but it might be different now.
